I fully agree with Jay's advice. If you don't know about it already the "Meet at the Beach" event that is sponsored by world famous kayak designer/builder Nick Schade of Guillemot Kayaks happens to be next Saturday at Bluff Point in Groton. This event is a wonderful opportunity to try out many different wooden boats. Also great to talk to builders/paddlers about their impressions about the boats.
