Thanks for your suggestion re: Evercoat paste. The repair looks small now, but the bubble under the hole extends well forward and aft of the hole. It's obvious that during layup the mat did not make the sharp bend at the edge of the slider groove, where the deck meets the groove. Because of this I'm assuming a much bigger void than can be seen at this point. I intend to expose the whole hole and rough up the mat to give the paste something to bond to. Before I remove any material I will tape up the hole and make a plug, which will give me something to fill to, so I will be able to accurately restore the shape of the groove without a lot of trial and error with sandpaper... I have never been accused of over-simplification.
