I have heard similar stories, e.g. a woman suffering serious cuts when a barracuda jumped over the transom of a sport fishing boat flying into the cabin and hitting her in the face. Apparently the fish are chasing prey and are oblivious to obstructions like people. In fact, Florida fisherman have a term for it . . . when you pull in a catch and the rear end has been bitten off by a barracuda. It's called getting "sawed off".
