This year's observance was a much diminished show, but a placeholder event none the less in a much diminished year. We've gotten used to that. At Esker we saw just a few make their way to the water for the renewal. One boat rounded the point to the beach, thanks to Doug Downey. I suspect there were more swimmers and boats at the traditional portal to the sea on GLP. The pic points up the bond that has grown between the runners and kayakers who gather each year to witness the polar plunges. The wader in the pic has done the event every year, since the beginning. The traditions hold. Jim would have been there too.
