Interesting question about initial viral dose-outcome relationship. It may be that low initial dose gives the immune system an extra couple days to generate antibodies before the viral burden maxes out.
One other thought came to mind reading the article: it would seem that a key factor in re-opening indoor business would be either efficient filtration of the air (HEPA?) or robust exchange of inside air with outside air. Both would tend to lower the density of viral particles in the air we breathe and thus the total virons taken in by anyone inhabiting the space during his stay there. I would much rather get my hair cut or enjoy a meal in an enclosure with doors and windows wide open and big fans blowing. Just like the good ol' days in the 50s.
