: As our annual Autumn Gales symposium is fast approaching, we always
: like to get the word out on the streets about our off-water
: happenings that are free and open to the paddling community.
: This years Saturday evening presentation is about Sailing to and
: Sea Paddling in Antarctica.
: The presenter is one of our International Guest at the Autumn Gales
: symposia, Axel Schoevers. Axel is a BCU coach and international
: guide from the Netherlands. He enjoys paddling in and
: introducing paddlers to more dynamic sea environments. Axel is a
: frequent coach/guide to Anglesey, and he has been
: coaching/guiding in place like Wales, Scotland, Cornwall,
: Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, USA, Australia, Tasmania, and Baja
: Mexico. Axel runs his own business SeaKayak.NL in the
: Netherlands with his business partner Nico. We've known Axel for
: many years now and he is a featured coach at Nigel's symposium
: in Anglesey.
: In 2017 Axel was part of a sailing and paddling expedition that
: took off from Ushuaia Argentina. Then sailed across the great
: Drakes passage down into the Antarctic Peninsula for the sea
: kayaking portion of the expedition and sailed back. We are
: excited to hear about this journey. So please make plans to come
: listen in.
