If you are on vacation, retired, or playing hooky this Thursday, we are planning a paddle from Esker Pt to Hay Harbor
Fishers Island for lunch.
What we will do:
A relaxed pace paddle from Esker point in Groton Long Point to scenic Hay Harbor on Fishers Island. We plan to be in the water and paddling
away at 11:00 am. Lunch break and maybe a swim once we get to Hay Harbor.
If folks want to extend the paddle, we can mosey on over and explore West Harbor on the way home.
Please have a Sea Kayak with water tight bulkheads or floatation bags. A PFD and a sprayskirt also required.
This paddle incorporates an approximate 3 mile open water crossing of Long Island sound. This paddle can at times depending
on conditions become bumpy with confused water and strong currents. Along with this confused water also comes boat wakes of varying
sizes so please be aware and prepared for all or some of this depending on conditions.
High tide is around 9 am. Current forecast is for sunshine and clouds mixed winds E 5-10 mph.
This paddle is around 8 miles round trip, 11 or so if we explore West Harbor.
Launch is located at GPS - 937 Groton Long Point Road, Groton Long Point.
Don't forget your lunch, plenty of water and sunscreen.
Hope to see you there!
