Also, how conditioned you are. I burn more calories in the beginning of the year than later on when I can paddle endlessly with ease.
New people to the sport get tired easly.
I also burn more in a drysuit than in a T-shirt. I'm not talking about sweat but effort.

BTW: Stony Creek harbor is iced in. That hasn't happened in about 3 years. I know global warming is real but I wish it wold come to Branford.
