Is there a rule of thumb for the number of calories burned per mile of ocean paddling (just typical conditions no big swell or wind). I've read lots of different numbers. I've read between 200-500 calories per hour which I think is low for someone traveling between 4-6 mph and my garmin says ~140 calories per mile which I think is high. I know with running people use 90-100 calories burned per mile, so I'm just looking for a rough guess like that.
