Boarding could mean hauling you out of your boat and searching you and the boat.
You do not have the same rights you would have at home or in your car while you are out on the water. It would serve you well to have a good attitude when dealing with the CG. They are some of the most courteous and professional people you will ever meet but they also wield a tremendous amount of power. Why would you want to give them any reason to be pissed off at you? They do an amazing job and if they feel the need to ask you a few questions it seems a simple enough request in exchange for what they provide.
